Bio:

The Defenders came together for a benefit single recorded in October 1979 for Heat magazine. Heat were required to remove a page from Vol.2 Nr.2 which U2's manager Paul Maguiness claimed was libelous. The costs associated with this action threatened closure of the magazine and The Defenders were formed to raise some cash. They performed a benefit gig at the National Ballroom in July 1979 and released this single later the same year. The magazine folded in spite of these efforts.

O'Connor, Fean & Carr were all with Horslips at the time and were later involved in the Zen Alligators and The Host. Eglington was also to become a Zen Alligator. The link with Heat magazine was through Eamon Carr, who was the brother of the magazine's co-editor Jude Carr.
