Bio:
Dublin band who gigged around the usual haunts in the mid-80s (Baggot Inn, The
Underground, Belvadere Hotel, UCD, etc) playing support slots to more
established local acts like Something Happins and LABF. Rehersals were usually at
Alan Furlong's Rehearsal studios off Capel Street. The Experiment made two
compilation appearances which suggest they were worthy of a release of their own
but it was not to be. Paul Quinlan appears on the first compilation. He was
replaced by Gary Sullivan in 1986. Ken Duffy (ex Proles) replaced Thomas
McLaughlin in LABF in 1988 after which The Experiment
presumably folded, with Mark Young & Gary Sullivan turning up in
Stano's band in 1989.
Lineups: Ken O'Duffy (vocals), Liam Farrington (guitar), Mark Young (bass) and
Paul Quinlan AKA Arlo (drums). Paul Quinlan replaced by Gary Sullivan in 1986.
Ken O'Duffy was later in Light A Big Fire and Saville.
Gary Sullivan was later with The Unbelievable Children and Engine Alley
among others and now lives in Los Angeles. Mark Young now works as a session musician
and continues to play with Stano.
A video of The Experiment performing "The Burning" is or soon will be available
on youtube.
