Bio:
Between 1971 and 1985 Larry Kirwan worked with Pierce Turner in Aftermath,
Turner & Kirwan of Wexford, Copernicus
and the Major Thinkers. See the corresponding entries for more
details.
After the Major Thinkers split in 1985, Kirwan worked with various ex Copernicus
musicians in Chill Factionwho released "Eggman on the
Deuce" in 1987, and, since 1989, another NYC-based band called Black 47, with
Chris Byrne. The latter band's choice
of name suggests they pander to Irish-American sentimentality.
A glorified bar band of little appeal.
All of their
releases have been CDs with the exception of one single, not listed on
the official website.
Kirwan has written several plays as well as a book called "Green Suede Shoes"
which did little to improve my opinon of his work.
He appeared live on RTE television during the tribute to Rory Gallagher,
performing an interminable song while most viewers were scrathing their
heads wondering who he was.
We need your help to correct and/or complete this entry. If you can provide more information about this band, have scans, photos or any other memorabilia we can use, or spare copies of any releases, then please get in touch.
