Shock Treatment

From: Belfast

Active: 1978-81

Style:

Lineup:

Bio:

Punk band compared at the time to 999 and The Lurkers. Barry McIlhenny had once been in a a mid-70s school boy band called The Essence with Howard Ingram of The Tearjerkers. He later became a music journalist, writing for Melody Maker and Hot Press among others. Davy McLaron later fronted Five Boys.

The band was co-managed by brothers Davy and Alan Brown who also ran a PA hire business. They set up the D.A.B. (Davy and Alan Brown) label to release Shock Treatment's debut single. The label was based in Portstewart. No other records were released.

The band had several other drummers, including Paul Kelly (ex The Lids) and Mark Bradley (of Reflex Action). Another member was Niall McKay (guitar). Guitarist Tim Kerr is not Tim Kerr of the Big Boys, obviously.
