The Strougers

From: Dublin

Active: 1977-1981

Style:

Lineup:

Bio:

One of the Navan Road powerpop/pop-punk bands with Pete 'The Roz' McCluskey. Formed 1977 and still gigging in the early 80s, but nothing was released as far as I'm aware. They're described as a poppy Ramones style band with bass, drums and two guitars. They recorded three demo tapes but nothing was ever released. Song titles: "Speeding On", "Ten Years", "Broken Toys", "The Sound".

Strouger is a mis-spelling of "Strowger", the manufacturer of telecommuncations equipment. Pete McCluskey, Noel Kellegher and Denis Rusk all worked for Eircom, the Irish telecom company, at the time.

The Strougers's badge read "THE STROUGERS - FASTER THAN THE RAMONES".

According to Imprint fanzine, the Strougers split (temporarily) in 1980 due to internal differences. Denis Rusk wanted to accept an offer from Good Vibrations which the others didn't.

Song titles: At The Movies / In My Office

Pete McCluskey later in the short-lived Driver and The Flying Club and co-founder of Danceline Records.
Denis Rusk later in New Career and Venetian Blond
