The Obligatory FAQ

Q: Who are you and why are you doing this?

My name is Eamonn, I was born in the mid-1960s in Dublin, grew up in Limerick for the most part, went to college in Dublin and then emigrated to Holland in the late-1980s. I've a lot of positive memories of the music scene in Ireland and I started this website to document it, focussing initially on the years I was most familair with, roughly 1978-88. I also started it to help me get my hands on records I seem to have been trying to find for decades!

Q: Were you in a band?

No.

Q: When are you going to move to website people can actually remember?

That day arrived over a year ago now. After three years juggling with three separate angelfire accounts (a logistical nightmare), this site has had its own domain since 2007 and is hosted in an advert free environment. My thanks to the Powers That Be for making this possible.

Q: How can I see what changes have been made since I last printed out the entire website?

Since you what...?! Printing of this material is of course streng verboten. I'm currently re-organizing the website to include a regularly updates section. Meanwhile the A-Z Artist Index includes dated update information whose accuracy varies according to the phases of the moon.

Q: Can you make me a CD-R copy of...?

I get many requests like this and it's great that so many people are interested in hearing this music. I cannot satisfy every request for various reasons but I do my best, especially when it comes to officially released records that have never been issued on CD nor are ever likely to be.
However, unless I know you, or unless you've sent me something in the past, I will expect something in exchange, and I've a strict policy of sending only after I've received that item.

Q: Are you going to do a book?

A book is certainly a possibility but I have no immediate plans to do one. Even so, by helping me now, you may one day see your name in print in the thank-you list of a real-world actual printed-on-paper book. What more incentive do you need?

Q: Are you going to add MP3s?

Soon (-ish).
(I hate mp3s unless they're done at a generous bit rate but then they take ages to download so what's the point, no?)

Q: Are any of these records for sale?

Please note that this is a discography, not a sale list. I do have spare copies of some of the records on this site but I'd prefer to trade for things I am looking for. For more details, please go to my vinyl trading site, which includes Irish wants and trades, which is here:
