Bio:
Folk duo whose sole elpee is a well-known collectable thanks to it's appearance
on the heavily collected Mushroom label but given how often it turns up on ebay,
it's not everyone's favourite album.
It doesn't quite fit the "folk psych" tag mandatory with
this kind of album these days (especially when selling it on ebay) but
it's still well worth tracking down. Given the asking price these days you'll have to
settle for the CD, issued by UFO in their Blast From The Past series. About half the
tracks are very strong folk
rock in the Irish tradition. It's worth noting that only three tracks carry the
trad.arr credit. The rest are group originals. Many of the songs have a
political edge but its hardly the Wolfe Tones and doesn't deserve the "rebel
folk" label given it in some quarters.
Recorded at Chalk Farm Studios London in 1972 with Kieran O'Connor (Second Hand,
Moving Finger) on drums and Romey Young on Jew's Harp. Issued on Mushroom in
a tiny edition of 200 copies, though Irish copies on Dolphin (which would number at
least 500) use stickered Mushroom sleeves, so more than 200 sleeves were printed. Sells
for upwards of €200 nowadays.
