Bagatelle

From: Dublin

Active: 1978-

Bio:

Bagatelle are a good example of the kind of American sounding band that seems to come more naturally to Irish musicians compared to the UK. Bagatelle sound like they could have come from New Jersey (not necessarily a good thing!).

The bands heyday was in the early eighties. They split for the first time circa 1983 but were back on the road again by 1985, touring in support of Polydor's "Gold" best of collection. They've reformed sporadically ever since. Main songwriter Liam Reilly launched a solo career which never achieved the same kind of success as Bagatelle, and arguably reached a particular sort of nadir with a Eurovision Song Contest appearance in 1990, when "Somewhere in Europe" finished in joint second place.
