Francie Conway

From: Kerry, Ireland

Active: 70s onwards

Style: Pop/Rock

Bio:

Kerry-born Francie Conway was a member of Clutch in the mid-70s. Clutch attracted a good deal of attention and appeared on TV (Our Times, April 2nd, 1979) but never signed a deal nor as far as I know did they record anything. Francie moved to Europe, basing himself in Geneva where he signed to the Swiss Jungle Records label and began a long term association with the associated studio and a pool of local musicians (and he must've run into Kevin Flynn too). He released his debut album 'I Know' in 1984-85. This was Pop/Rock/Singer-Songwriter material which drew comparisons to people like Bruce Springsteen and John Prine. His later material moved in a more folk-rock direction. He moved to Amsterdam later in the decade and made his second album 'Wake Up' in 1990. He also released several singles on various labels. He continues to perform and record. Satellite Records is his own label, I believe, with an address in Dublin. There are undoubtedly more CD releases I've missedf. Check the website for more details.
