Stac AKA Austin Coll

From: Dublin?

Active: 1972-

Style: folk

Bio:

Stac was a folky singer-songwriter/guitarist, active as far back as 1972. Stac was his nickname. His real name was Austin Coll. He performed both solo and as a duo with Noel Purvis. Both were from East Finglas (now known as Glasnevin North) where Coll's family had a newsagents (or corner shop). In 1973 he supported Fruupp at Liberty Hall in Dublin (or was this gig cancelled?). He appeared on the 1976 "Seven ... With Love EP".

He led an interesting life, in Ireland and the UK, and eventually moved to The Netherlands. I was in touch with him, preparing an update of this webpage, when he died, in 2014.

There is no link to the pop/cabaret band Stacc.
