The Rimshots / The Ripchords

From: Dublin

Active: ca 1984-84

Style: Rock

Lineup:

Bio:

The Rimshots was a Rock 'n' Roll/Rockabilly band active ca 1983. They were fronted by John Fisher (vocals/bass) and featured Ian Pollard on guitar (an old classmate of the U2 gang), Graham Reid on guitar, and Tony Heffernan on drums (brother of Dave & Gerry Heffernan, the TV producers). Ian & Tony were from Malahide while John and Graham were from Dundrum on Dublin's southside, which made rehearsals a major trek for the southsiders as their rehearsal space was in Malahide.

The same quartet also performed as The Ripchords playing punkier material. The Ripchords supported Mary Coughlan, Stockton's Wing and other bigger names at The Grand Hotel in Malahide and gigged extensively in the Dublin area, including the TV Club, Ivy Rooms, Baggot Inn etc.

No releases, but several recordings exist.
