Alcove

From: North Dublin

Active: early 80s

Style: new wave

Lineup:

Bio:

Northside Dublin band who played regularly in various venues mainly around Dublin including the Bagott Inn and a Saturday afternoon half hour gig in Base X Records in Dublin in 1982.

Alcove recorded several of their own original tracks in Alto Studios and Lombard Studios. They also had a number of radio interviews and a couple of tracks aired at this time. Though they had many influences in their sound (including reggae), their most commercial track, 'Armageddon' was likened to Dire Straits. They won the Battle Of The Bands competition (what year?) held in Blackrock College, with B.P.Fallon as one of the judges, who was very complimentary about their performance.

Managed Sean O'Connor (not the Lookalike) had his own band Sudden Urge, whose lineup included Pat Butler's brother Eamonn Butler on drums.
