The Date Rippers

From: Limerick

Active: 1979-1980

Style:

Lineup:

Bio:

Underground post-punk DIY / early electronica band... way ahead of their time in Ireland. I grew up in Limerick (turning 15 when the first cassette came out in 1979) and I never heard of them. Of course, I was listening to Rush at that point . . .

The pseudonymous, prolific trio of Jean Phillipe, Jerry Attrick and Jim Nastix issued three cassette albums during 1979-80 and continued to record as David Depraved (1980), Tripper Humane (1980-81) and Ultimate Treason (1981-85). One or more of these individuals is undoubtedly Barry Warner, but which one(s)?

Come on Barry, spill !
