Under River

From: Dublin

Active: 1971

Style: jazz/rock experiments

Lineup:

Bio:

Under River, a Gormenghast reference, was formed by Chris Hanney (ex Jazz Therapy), Dave 'Mojo' Lennox (ex Uptown Band, Elmer Fudd) and Dave McHale. Mojo brought Douggie Bailey into the band, while McHale brought in his friend Kevin O'Neill. Bailey made way for original Mellow Candle bassist Pat Morris.

The band revelled in jazz/rock covers of the likes of Nucleus and Rock Workshop. They played The Sportsmans Inn and Sloopys, and supported the Woods Band at a reputedly fantastic gig in a hall in Abbey Street Dublin.

Dave McHale later played with Nightbus, Stagalee, the Boomtown Rats, and Auto Da Fe.
