The following is a listing of Irish artists released on Pye by both the UK and Irish branches. Pye was very active in the late 60s and there are undoubtedly many omissions.

Many UK Pye singles originated in Ireland on the Target label. Target Records was started by The Tom Costello Organization in 1967. Target had a manufacturing & distribution deal with Pye and hence used the same numbering and catalog system as Pye. Apparently every Target release has a Pye UK equivalent pressing but there are also Irish only Pye releases, so it was not an exclusive setup. There is one anomoly: 7N 17992 exists as an Irish Target release and a UK CBS, but not a UK Pye as far as I know.

I have not distinguished between Irish only and UK only Pye releases, so all the singles below were released in either Ireland or the UK. The singles released as Irish Target releases (and thus UK Pye releases) are marked with a '*'. A separare listing of all Target releases is also available here. Also of interest is the Rose label.

Pye had a number of sub-labels including Piccadilly, Golden Guinea and the budget Marble Arch imprint. During the 1970s it launched the progressive Dawn label.

Pye was very active in the Irish market from the early 1960s onwards and recorded many Irish artists. As times got tougher in the 70s, thing changed. Pye began shutting down its Irish operation in 1971. The distribution deal with CBS was not renewed as CBS planned to open its own Irish office in June 1972. Pye sold its 50% stake in the Carlton pressing plant in Dublin and finally closed its Dublin office on November 1st 1971. John Woods who'd been head of operations since the early 60s moved to Polydor, who took over marketing and distribution of Pye product in Ireland. Polydor became the strongest label in Ireland in the 1970s.

Numbering: The first main Pye series was the 7N.15000 series which began with 7N.15001 when the label was still known as Pye Nixa. When it reached 7N.15999 in 1966, the numbering skipped ahead to 7N.17000. I've listed the 17000 series separately for convenience but it's essentially a continuation of the 15000 series. It reached 7N.17999 in 1970 at which point a new series was launched, 7N.45000 which ran through 46000 and onwards until it was replaced in 1979 by the 7P-100 series which I have not listed here.
